Recently Bookmarked gets populated with bookmarks from RSS feeds.

AFAIK There is really nothing we can do about this with the current WebExtension APIs.

7efb0c8519d319036a013d58b1e9db67000b03ac made this slightly better as now the bookmarks are not deleted and recreated (preserving the timestamps).

This isn't cool

Slightly better is an understatement as it only applies after the fact and messes up recent. As a developer I would have never let this slide.

To anyone who uses recently bookmarked constantly it either requires deleting the rss feeds and/or un-bookmarking then re-bookmarking the last 10 recent bookmarks should you know what they were, or not using recent for some time.

That doesn't magically make it cool ;-)

The fact is that livemarks still messes up recent. When you use that constantly, its a huge negative. If you want to blame Mozilla then go for it. I too am not happy with them if you are unable to do so - that means they dropped a feature and were not ready to do.

I hope Mozilla would had this feature to the Firefox extensions API because not preserving the recently bookmarks is the main drawback when switching to livemarks extension.
