About the setting of the grid_size

Thank you for the contribution a lot. I am a new beginner to the direction. I want to know why the grid_size is setting to 6.25, 12.5 or 25 in the polar_lonlat_to_ij? Does the grid_size mean the spatial resolution? If I have a different resoulution, e.g., 500m, can I set the grid_size to 0.5?
