Use of Sonny's LiDAR Digital Terrain Models within Europe

Open SonnyLidarDTM opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Hi,

if we click in BRouter Web Client on the bottom right onto "Copyright" > Höhendaten (= elevation data) just "CGIAR-CSI SRTM" is listed. Maybe you wanna try "Sonny's LiDAR Digital Terrain Models" at https://sonny.4lima.de as an alternative within Europe?

The accuracy and resolution of its models' elevations compared to satellite-based surveys like ASTER, ALOS, COPERNICUS or SRTM is significantly better. Especially in wooded areas, steep rocky terrain or narrow valleys.

Thanks for the hint. That is just quoting sources used by the backend and should also include yours (see also brouter#534).

The client itself is only using AWS Terrain Tiles for the hillshading overlay, as they're readily avalable as a tile pyramid, see also #475 (comment).
