Higher resolution imagery/tiles

If imagery can't be SVG (which I believe it can be) I would opt for higher resolution imagery.

Currently it looks kind of blurry/pixelated: image (this is 100% zoom for me)

All maps are provided by external tile services.

I'm not aware of any service for SVGs. Vector tiles with client-side rendering would scale, but not yet implemented (#289).

I think there are some providers that offer hi-res tiles (512 instead of 256 px), but I'm not aware of any non-commercial service, suggestions welcome.
