Move the functions of Menubar into the Ribbon
It's more efficient to work with ribbon then the Menu bar.
I can see the appeal. I am not a fan of the menubar as it currently is as well. Some time ago, I experimented with a command bar (larger, with icons + text) on a different branch so this is probably were things will go. Not quite the ribbon you'd prefer but at least an upgrade from the old-school menubar ;)
Oh! A million thanks nptr for entertaining the requests if your users. I hope to see the command bar in the coming versions.

I am slowly working an a revamp. Maybe a version 2.0, maybe just 1.6. We'll see. Anyways, I did use a ribbon menu and here is your chance to test it and provide feedback: msstyleEditor_Ribbon.zip
!! Beware, this is an alpha version with bugs Chances are that it will corrupt your styles or worse. !!
@nptr that ribbon is good, is better than the old menu, but like you said the program works bad. Thank you anyway for your work in this good program.
I fixed a good portion of the buggy stuff. Stay tuned :)
First of all, thank you for your excellent project.
I followed this discussion with interest, and I fully understand the stakes, but it turns out that I am completely allergic to the ribbon. I greatly prefer a program with menu and toolbar, or even a program with just menus. The ribbon make me only lose for nothing space on the screen. Would it be possible to edit as a parallel way a version with menu bar + toolbar or just menu bar ?
Thank you.
I'll see if I can achieve something similar to the "Simplified Ribbon" from MS Outlook where the user can switch between, but maintaining two versions is not realistic.
I understand that it is not possible for you to maintain two versions. But in this case, would it be possible to keep an opportunity to activate the menu bar ?
