Re: Finally figured out what exactly is happening when funding envelopes with a smaller salary
I did the first of month distro again today and noticed this time that when I put the amount of the salary in, I haven't been filling out the distro amounts for the envelopes at all. If you click "OK" without filling in the envelope amounts Budget with Envelopes will try to do the distro automatically.... probably based upon history!
As it turns out, it's actually an undocumented feature.
Since the distro programming is actually already in there, I suggest allowing the user to choose which envelope will be the sweep envelope (where the difference between what the salary is and what is needed is sent), whether it's positive (as in extra funds) or negative (as in short of funds).
That will then offer users with multiple incomes the features they need.
Let me know if you have any questions. Now I understand why my earlier reports were hard to understand. It's an undocumented feature that I discovered! In this way, you can make that undocumented feature predictable and very useful.
Cheers! And Happy New Year!
