Repository provided in download instructions does not have release file

Open MechaDragonX opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

I tried installed the application using the instructions for Ubuntu and when I tried to update from the repository, I got the following messages:

E: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/notepadqq-team/notepadqq/ubuntu hirsute Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

As it states, the provided repository does not have a release file, and thus it would not let me add update from it.

Piggy back on this request for also a release file for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Focal Fossa

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:notepadqq-team/notepadqq
Cannot add PPA: ''This PPA does not support focal''.

As of version 2.0.0 beta the binaries should be within the normal Ubuntu repos although from my experience it's extremely buggy. The recommended install is snap (I haven't tried it as I hate snaps) but it may be worth using an older version from https://launchpad.net/~notepadqq-team/+archive/ubuntu/notepadqq/+packages, the package for xenial will work as I have that version installed.
