mouse- right click

Open Pdc97 opened this issue 1 year ago • 7 comments

Hello:) I love this program on desktop win 10... but, increasingly, if, I accidently right click on an image, it is either automatically cropped or jumps to the next image... Any ideas on how to disable that?? I did try the 'xmousebutton' software, but it did not solve it. I don`t care for shortcuts by way of mouse or keyboard... Nomacs is the only image program that I have this issue. Thank You:)

Hello @Pdc97, please provide the nomacs version you are using. You can find the version info in ? > About nomacs.

Right-click on the image should only open a context menu. It might help to provide some screen recordings so we can see the issue.

Hi:) Thanks for your reply... but, I have no active screen program, where it can record 24/7... I would have no interest in it plus from a security point of view... The right click mouse issue is completely random/ out of the blue. It happens now and then and is the only program, where a right click tends or has a action... I`ll search for active freeware/shareware screen capture program that I could allow to run, when, I am using nomacs:)

If that is the case, please provide the version first so we can test :).

Just to confirm, is it correct that normally right-clicking only opens the context menu for you? When you found the program misbehaves, was it single-right-click or double-right-click?

For recording software, I use OBS

Hello:) The about info is: 3.17.2289[x64] Oct 4 2023 I am not sure if, it is a single click, but, most likely... since, I do not have any shortcuts or any program set up on my win 10 desktop that has a right click configuration. Just that I use the mouse with the right hand more often. I do have other image programs. But, only infra view is used as often as nomacs. Since, I have it set up as my preferred image viewer instead of Microsoft`s photo program... I use nomacs, when I edit my greeting card images, before importing or pasting them into Printmaster.

@Pdc97 You could have a malfunctioning mouse, that can do all sorts of weird things. One common thing, it doesn't register the mouse "up" event sporadically, so software thinks you are dragging the mouse even though the button is up.

Nomacs uses horizontal-left-drag to go to the next/previous image. I think these are for trackpad gestures. That doesn't quite fit here because they only look at the left mouse button.

This website can check your mouse. You are looking for equal number of up/down events on all buttons and no double-clicks.

Thank You:):) I am testing another old mouse... I do keep them and swap them out now and then... The current mouse seems to function smoother and the auto cropping has happened only once, but with the left click. I have reinstalled the x mouse button and see, if, it will help... I have no idea as to why only nomacs has this mouse issue... since I stopped using keyboard short cuts decades ago and have not had to tinker or contend with mouse clicks issues before... When the mouse reacts slowly, I swap them and clean the balls/rollers. I will recycle the previous one, which had AST lettering on the brand...

Reading back over this I am pretty sure this comes from the horizontal drag gesture which is hard-coded to move to the next/previous image. If there is a problem with the mouse you are probably triggering this gesture.

We should add a feature to nomacs to optionally disable these gestures or make them configurable.
