Smooth scrolling doesn't work well when using Google Maps in Chrome. It zooms in/out too much even if you scroll by just 1 scroll wheel click. Works fine in Safari.
Steps to reproduce
- Enable Smooth Scrolling with medium speed setting
- Open google maps in Chrome (https://www.google.com/maps)
- Try zoom in/out using scroll wheel
- Single scroll wheel click will zoom too much
Context

Hey @xeron, thanks for your feedback!
This is really weird. I can't reproduce this on my computer. I'm using Big Sur 11.2.3
and Chrome Version 89.0.4389.114 (Official Build) (x86_64)
.
If you have any ideas as to what might be causing this to happen, or if anyone else with the same issue wants to chime that would be super appreciated!
Oh and in the meantime you could try MOS, it’s another great app for smooth scrolling, which might work better for you.
Just tested the latest Chrome, macOS Catalina and Razer DeathAdder mouse and it works just fine. Will retest with the latest Chrome on Big Sur / X17 mouse and report back.
Tried the latest Chrome, macOS Big Sur and EVGA X17 and still see this issue. Could be mouse specific or Big Sur specific I guess.
Fun fact – setting scrolling speed to max "Fast" actually reduces the amount of zoom in/out in Google Maps (still not smooth nor usable tho).
Whoa that's weird. Thanks for your contributions!
This is happening to me on version 3 beta 4 for Google Maps using Safari. Precise scroll doesn't seem to have any effect either.
EDIT: This is fixed on version 3 beta 5. Thanks!
My hardware acceleration was switched off, but turning it on fixed the Google Maps scrolling issue for me:
Chrome Settings > System > Use hardware acceleration when available > On
Chrome: Version 108.0.5359.124 (Official Build) (arm64) MacOS: Ventura 13.1
@cpmander pmander I had it on and it wasn't working but once I turned it off and then turned it back on it started working again
