Move a window to another space using click & gesture [enhancement]

Open philippedcote opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Description

It would be nice to be able to move a window to another space using click swipe left or right gesture.

Rationale

I was previously using a Logitech MX Master 3 and the gesture function allowed me to click and hold the title bar of a Finder window, then use a mouse gesture to move to another space which allowed the window to be moved quickly to another space.

Actual steps:

  • Activating Mission Control
  • Finding the small window in your mess
  • Dragging the window on the top of the screen
  • Clicking on the space to end operation

New steps:

  • Click and hold the window's title
  • Swipe left or right

Hi there, @philippedcote, thanks for your suggestion!

I'll take your feedback into consideration. As a workaround, you can drag the window 'past' the top of the screen to enter mission control and then just drop it on another space to move it to that space.

I think this behaviour is a restriction of macOS. It works in Logitech Options because they are simulating keyboard shortcuts when you click and drag while MMF simulates trackpad swipes.

You can also assign switching spaces to clicking a button instead of clicking and dragging in MMF - that will also simulate keyboard shortcuts and behave more like Logitech Options.

Hope that helps a little!
