Newer build / beta / nightly?

Open WolfganP opened this issue 8 years ago • 9 comments

Hi, FOA thanks for this app, it was exactly what I needed to quickly share a folder of media material.

While downloading from http://nmaier.github.io/simpleDLNA/ I noticed the version 1.0 served is from 2014 but this project shows there were a lot of recent commits since then. Is there any more recent / beta / nightly build to download somewhere? (I have no dev env for Windows set up) Thx in advance!

I compiled a version of my fork and released it as 1.2 Beta.

Thank you @PFloeschel for the 1.2 beta build. Is external subtitle (.srt) supposed to be working in this build?

@thataboy If it's supposed to, it's not :-P

I'm still looking for a fork that works with .srt files on my Samsung E-series TV. I've tried about 5-6 forks (@nono303, @antonio-bakula, @hermanho, @pfloeschel for instance) while including ffmpeg.exe in the same folder, but none of them consistently worked :-(

Does anyone have a tip? Can I try something else?

@ltGuillaume I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but have you thought of just using a cheap laptop with an HDMI cable for watching stuff on your TV? Sometimes that's much more practical than getting streaming or TV software to work properly.

I know, but SimpleDLNA does exactly what I want, except for the subtitles. Seems a lot of extra work to hook up a laptop every time. Since there's actual code in there that should support Samsung devices (and sometimes it actually did!) it's extra "painful" :-P

Have you tried other dlna servers? There's also Plex and others. I also dont get subtitles on my Samsung 8 series uhd TV but I can live with that and also have a mi android box. And @anewuser even that box or some cheap laptop doesn't have near the same results/quality/fluidity as dlna and smb shares

Serviio, Plex, Universal Media Server (PS3 Media Server), Twonky etc., but nothing is as clean 'n easy as SimpleDLNA.
