Increased amount of PKGs or file size results in a 500 server error

Adding pkgs (around 1800+ files estimated about 14.2GB) results in a continuous scan and shows up as 'Get file server error' - 'Request failed with status code 500' which I am guessing results in a time out because of the high amount of PKGs in a single directory or the total scan file size which can be achieved I guess by editing the httpd/static server configuration to increase the max_execution_time.
