Error: `builder for '...' failed to produce output path for output 'out' at '...'`
I'm seeing the following error when running home-manager switch:
error: builder for '/nix/store/s31vlk12dslzkna3cncvg5a6636vyyf5-auto-fix-vscode-server.service.drv' failed to produce output path for output 'out' at '/nix/store/s31vlk12dslzkna3cncvg5a6636vyyf5-auto-fix-vscode-server.service.drv.chroot/nix/store/nhyc3xdqbw2gljn30y4wi2zwl1ki4mn1-auto-fix-vscode-server.service'

I'm seeing this now after upgrading to 22.05. Previously the exact same config worked without issue. Has anything changed in nixos-vscode-server to cause this? Or possibly a new nix version?
I have not updated anything recently, so it should be Nix or HM (Home Manager) that is the caused something to change that triggers this error. I don't use HM myself, are you aware of any changes on how services are defined? The NixOS service variant does work (reinstalled the latest 2 weeks ago and used it successfully on my machines).
Thanks for following up @msteen! Perhaps I'll give the NixOS service variant a try.
just set up the NixOS config version and that seems to be working fine. Thanks for everything @msteen!
I'm having the same error as @samuela , although I'm on home-manager version 21.11. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury to try the other methods, due to corporate environment I only have access to the home-manager configuration. Do you know what could be causing this issue?
This issue seems to be caused by home-manager failing to create systemd service files: https://github.com/nix-community/home-manager/pull/2867 I'll try upgrading to 22.11
I assume this was something related to a home manager bug and not on our end, if it is a bug of some kind in the home module of this project, let me know so I can address it.
