No link -- Android <> Mint

I thought this app might be just what I'm looking for to transfer between my new Gemini Android PDA and my Linux machine. However, when I installed on both machines (Gemini from F-Droid, Mint via apt-get) and try to send a file, I get no link in either direction with the app running on both. Android just shows the spinner, Linux shows an empty device panel. I'm on my local WiFi, which works fine otherwise.

i have the same issue with a phone running cyanogenmod 12.1 and pc running windows 8.1. both devices have nitroshare installed but can not see each other.

For Windows I have no clue.
