Linux mint doesn't detect windows 10 pc
I have a weird issue with Nitroshare: My Linux Mint 18 (KDE) doesn't detect a windows 10 pc but my Windows 10 pc can send files to the Linux machine although they don't arrive. I have installed Nitroshare from nitroshare.net, with windows I downloaded the 64 bit version and with Linux I downloaded it via the PPA. They are both the same version and on the same network.
Do you have a third-party firewall installed on Windows?
No, sorry for the utterly late reaction.
Am facing the same problem.
I'll see if I can reproduce this with a Mint VM.
I installed a clean copy of Windows 10 and Linux Mint 18.2 in two virtual machines and connected them via a bridged network. I downloaded the latest stable version of NitroShare from the website and used the stable PPA to install NitroShare in Mint. After launching the application on both machines, they were able to find each other and I was able to transfer files between them.
The next version of NitroShare will use mDNS for discovering other devices on the network, so I'll wait and see if that solves the issue.
I had this problem too, it is the Linux firewall, the easy way to sort this is with gufw which is a nice firewall GUI and add rules for ports 40818 and 40816 and you will be in business, you may need to install gufw
