Large cortical darkened areas in boldref coregistration QC

What happened?

During BOLD QC I noticed large darkened areas of cortex in some of the boldref coreg images. I've provided a normal screenshot and the problematic one. Not sure if anyone knows what might be causing this. Showed up on a handful of images with no rhyme or reason. Sometimes within subject. Not sure if it's processing issue or an acquisition Problem.
