Nim's mascot proposal
Hi I drew a informal Nim's mascot. Is it possible to be adopted as official mascot?
This mascot name hasn't been decided yet.
Well it looks cute. But I am not sure if cute is the attribute I would like to be associated with Nim.
Do you have other mascot ideas?
Mascot is pretty, it seems to be high enough as a publicity effect.

The honey badger is too aggressive I think.
I think the mascot should be a Lion (Simba ;) )
@mratsim, it would be possible to create a kinder looking honey-badger though
I don't think the honey badger works for us as it's already used (unofficially?) by Bitcoin.
A lion is perfect, he's the king of the jungle and he looks good with a crown.
I'd say so. It makes the mascot real and I think that's important. Alternatively it could be some mythical creature, but it has to be something people know of and can name.

@data-man it would be much better if that creature would exist in real life, or at least be known by a lot of people.

Rigani's proposal looks better than both the aggressive honey badger and the Lamassu. A simple name like "Nimi" or something like that is much better than names like "Lamassu" or "Honey Badger".
lel, However, I told to rigani that mascot is highly unlikely to be adopted.
...By the way, rigani said that we would like to think of another new idea, but the suggested mascot is very popular in Japan ;)
@FedericoCeratto no... We are not talking about mascots as rigani says that mascots were not accepted.
If you submit an animated version of the mascot I might reconsider my position.
I love this mascot :) https://nim-lang.org/ is elegant but not friendly. So, in order to expand Nim, friendly mascot is being needed, i think. @jayadevanraja "Nimi" is so simple and cute.
@2vg @rigani sharing an SVG or any other editable file format would really help other people to improve the design. Thank you!
This is something I feel good to have as Nim mascot I guess. Lion is a ferocious animal. King of the jungle. Wears a crown thus.
I think most people like the Honey Badger used for the NimConf 2020, theres a source SVG and is not Trademarked, this helps improving Marketing for Nim itself, maybe that can be the choosen one:
I am talking about the idea of using the Honey Badger as mascot, it can be with/without crown, mouth open/closed, icon sized, chibi variants, etc and all that can come later. Who does not like the Honey Badger ?. :)
i also remember an albatross being suggested, (because they are very efficient apparently), and id say something cool could be done, but there never was an actual drawing.
I think @Himujjal is onto the right idea with the lion though maybe somewhat less cute. The animal that makes the most sense to go with a crown is a lion since lions are the king of the animals. In support of the idea of both honey badgers and lions is the fact that they are apex predators, meaning that they are on the top of their food chains.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I threw together a fediverse emoji blobcat nim image... for fun, but then I got a few people saying it would make a good mascot.
Not sure on the IP involved around using a blobcat (https://blob.cat)... but it's a starter for ideas right?
