Can't replicate this bug, probably something is wrong with device fonts. I will try to use an in-built font.

the glitch seems gone when i change font preset to 240x320. but, 240x320 font preset it too big to fits in 176x220 screen resolution.

Try this version, fonts should be readable now. I'll think how to solve this issue better.

Oh, when i use anti-aliasing, it should be readable now. but its kinda blurry

Thanks, fixed on latest version (1.7.0-stable). but, i think the font is little bit oversized.
