Auto-reconnecting AAPS to Accu Chek Combo after a period of inactivity.

Phone: Pixel 8 Android version: Android 15 Version: 3.3.1.0

I have an issue with connecting AAPS to Accu-Chek Combo. If the app doesn’t need to connect within the first 10–15 minutes, there’s usually a problem, and I receive an alarm after 30 minutes. This problem started when I upgraded to Android 15. Changing the AAPS version doesn’t resolve the issue, and the monthly Android updates haven’t fixed it either. Would it be possible to add an option in the plugin for automatically reconnecting to the Combo every 10 minutes as a preventive measure? AndroidAPS.2025-01-15_00-00-13.3.zip

In this file, there was no connection until 8:00. I only restarted Bluetooth at 8:01. AndroidAPS.2025-01-15_00-00-13.2.zip

Did you activate the ~~Pod~~ Pump with AAPS version 3.3.1.0?

I'm not using Omnipod; I use Accu-Chek Combo. Did I misunderstand the question?

Yes, of course. Ignore my remark. Do not have the Combo so would not know other than that in most cases loss of BT connection can be cause by phone power savings. Maby double check.

Did you ask around on Discord to see if other Combo users are experiencing connection problems?

Yes, this problem has been occurring for several months (since September or October). I have Android 15. Yesterday, I updated to version 3.3.1.2, but the problem still persists today.

I’ve noticed that if I experience significant "sugar spikes" or the changes in blood sugar known to the app are quite sudden, it naturally needs to connect more frequently. However, if I eat breakfast at 5:00 and my sugar stabilizes around 7:00, I often experience connection issues around 8:00.

I’ve checked posts about this issue, but it can easily go unnoticed if frequent communication with the pump is not required in the settings.

Despite the new version 3.3.1.3 (I know there were no changes for Combo), I’m only requesting an option for automatic refreshing every 10 minutes in the Combo plugin. It could be in the form of a toggle, similar to "Detailed Combo Logging."

Maybe Google will implement a proper Bluetooth energy management option in the future, but for now, we have to find a way to manage. :)

Until it is resolved properly you could try a workaround: an automation with the trigger "last connection to pump" and any action which forces a connection to the pump. Profile change works for sure, but it would consume too much pump battery. A proper temptarget could do the trick (maybe you need more temptargets based on other conditions, to not deviate too much from the ideal dosing).

Changing the profile to the same one does not establish a connection with the pump. Switching between different profiles every 10 minutes could be problematic. Similarly, setting the profile percentage to 100% does not trigger a connection either, even with an active basal rate of 0%. I don't know why?
