Consider to switch from prettytable-rs to a different library

Open alcir opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Disclaimer: I'm not a developer. I'm just reporting the words of someone who really understands the topic^1.

Note that the "prettytable-rs" crate is pretty much dead, and it's already slightly broken with the latest versions of its dependencies. You might want to switch to a different library.

Thank you for your efforts.

Heya! I appreciate the pointer and I am very open to this, as long as we can keep the dependency tree similarly lean or potentially even leaner. Perhaps porting over just the features zeitfetch needs from that lib (⚠️ and only that) could make for an interesting sub. I was unaware that prettytable-rs had become unmaintained.

PS: were you the one who suggested zeitfetch for the fedora reps by any chance? If so, thank you! It's very cool to see it available elsewhere other than brew or cargo which I maintain.

Yes I am. :-)

@alcir this did take a while but it should be covered in the v0.1.15 release. I'm closing this issue for now, but feel free to re-open it if a distribution somewhere (brew, cargo) still shows it.
