+1.

It would be a huge usability to have brace matching (and corresponding region collapsing) . Especially for non-trivial text, this would increase the greatly the usability of IntelliJ as a Markdown editor, since other editors don't seem to have this feature either.

I am not sure how recently this happened, but Eclipse's Markdown editor now supports collapsing sections. I would LOVE to see this feature added!

Notice: This plugin is no more maintained and it has been removed from Jetbrains plugins repository. There is a Markdown plugin officially supported by Jetbrains.
