AFAICT they're still suitable, though we'll see only the server-side resource rules taking effect. The Cordova-style hybrid projects don't live in the same hierarchy - they're siblings to the root...
A word of caution here - I've seen conflicting "recommendations" for handling Cordova projects and Git. I would advise detailed testing if there is no official guidance.
