feature request: saving selected part of log

It will be nice - I select part of logs and can save it to separate file (from preview area or search result area too). My logs are very huge (2-3GB) and selected parts are huge too - copying so many text by clipboard is confusing (and text editors hanging while pasting 400-500MB).

What encoding should be used for saved file? Could it be allways utf8 or should current selected display encoding be used?
