Not working
I placed the schema folder in the extensions folder (v18) but it doesn't work and neither does it work in v17.
There's no unblock either.
what could be the issue??
Make sure you have downloaded from the releases page and not the source code.
The folder cannot be in an additional sub folder. i.e. You should have this file path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 18\Common7\IDE\Extensions\SSMS Schema Folders\SsmsSchemaFolders.pkgdef".
I'm having the same problem - probably doing something stupid! I have done this;
- Downloaded <SSMS-Schema-Folders-v1.3.1.zip> to my ...\Application Downloads folder.
- Copied the <SSMS Schema Folders> and all its files to the SSMS v17 folder you specify; <C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\140\Tools\Binn\ManagementStudio\Extensions>
- Run <SkipLoading.2017.reg>.
Now what? When I open SSMS, nothing has changed in the Object Explorer. Under Tools|Options|SQL Server Object Explorer|Schema Folders, I just have a message "An error occurred loading this property page".
Please help!
When the Schema Folders appears in the options but doesn't load then you didn't unblock the zip file before extracting.

Many thanks – I did suggest it would be something stupid!
I’ve removed all files, unblocked the zip and then reinstalled to the required folder and all works perfectly. As I’ve become a stickler for schemas now, this will be a huge help.
