Errors from canvas example

In using your canvas example, I get

layout.selectAll('g').data(instance._layout.data).enter is not a function. (In 'layout.selectAll('g').data(instance._layout.data).enter()', 'layout.selectAll('g').data(instance._layout.data).enter' is undefined)
