Are these fluctuations normal ?
Can someone tell me if these fluctuations are a bit too much ? There might be 2-3 times where I stopped the miner but the rest seems to be too much ups and downs. I don't know if I should look more into it or not.

I have the same fluctuations (8x GTX 1080 Ti). Don't know why.
It seems to be more stable with 6 or less cards, is it the same for you ?
Here is another situation where fluctuations are smaller and speed is more stable:

I have switched to NHML 1.8.2.0-pre2 and I have enabled only single algo (according to WhatToMine, Equihash, with excavator). The profit curve is more stable, without high peaks and deep valeys.
I've started to have these fluctuations since I've upgraded to 2.0.1.8. I had no fluctuations on the previous version, but I'll switch back tomorrow and update in a couple of days
I've deleted the 2.0.1.8v and I couldn't get ahold of it, but 2.0.1.9 is out as of today, so I've installed that one and it's better. Also I've modified the config file to switch currency only if the most profitable one is 0.1 better instead of the default 0.05 I suggest you all to do the same.
It is more stable for me now, I think is because I keep disabling the antivirus in windows 10, it re-activates automatically after some hours. I also added two paths to antivirus exceptions/exclude list:
- C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Programs\NiceHash Miner 2
- C:\Users\adrian\AppData\Roaming\nhm2

If you added the exception, should be fine. But as far as I can see, these spikes are still there for me. It was more steady with NH v2 2.0.1.6, but nowhere to be found this version
OK, I will update my NiceHash software too, I have 3 machines, only one was installed today with latest version.
basically, these spikes are the direct result of switching currency, but you're mining just one coin, which is odd have you had the issue in 2.0.1.6?
I can't remember exactly but I think the initial spikes were from previous versions, maybe 2.0.1.6, in the above last chart 2 machines are 2.0.1.8 and one is 2.0.1.9
What do you mean I mine just one coin ? It usually shows Neoscrypt as most proffitable in their stats per card type: https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator/nvidia-gtx-1070?e=0.1¤cy=USD Maybe that is why you see only Neoscrypt, just today I see Equihash is proffitable too, but previous days that pie chart was around 80% proffitable for Neochart.
I'll try to set the coin switch to 1.5 tomorrow, it might get it a bit steadier
you can do that by stopping the miner and clicking the log I think or advanced? and then open the file with wordpad or similar to see the code stacked and not long lines from there you'll find the line with the currency switching profile and modify it to 1.5 or 1
I'll get the exact steps tomorrow, as I don't have a windows machine at home any more
it's config file, I remembered now
bit tipsy here, so please excuse the wrong info :P
oh, I thought you excluded the rest of the coins manually. My other hypotesis is that these fluctuations are from the pools, which are reporting the wrong hashing speed. As far as I can see, those spikes for me are more than my rig could earn, and then the line just drops
