codecov status badge is affected by coverage of unmerged PRs

Description of issue

We have an unmerged PR being used to determined the latest codecov status of our master branch. image

I noticed this because the system tests hadn't yet run and our status badge showed coverage as having dropped all the way to 82%.

It's possible this is related to the merge from master to that PR. I'm not sure.
