Add tests for all optional arguments for all the primitives

I think we should vet all the primitives for their optional argument support and add missing test cases for the optional argument support. Looks like most primitives handle this almost today. This might be easier to do as an exercise and likely more efficient to knock out the issues than deal with arbitrary failures in non-trivial test cases.
