Rendering small selections of <=3 residues

I am unable to render small selections consisting of three or less AA, and I cannot find anything in the documentation about this. Is this the desired behaviour? Is there a workaround?

Use licorice representations. I think the cartoon cannot be computed with very few residues.

Licorice representation is not at all what I'm looking for. I need more abstract representation - cartoon fits great.

While I understand that you cannot compute it only for a few residues, one could opt to compute the whole molecule and only render the parts that are requested - it would be less performant, but useful, at least for me. Is there such an option now?

Sorry @kiraacorsac, that is a shortcoming in NGL. We addressed it in our new project Mol* (molstar.org).
