Two inverse selection on cartoon representation don't line up

What I'm trying to achieve is a coloured selection, where the rest of the protein is half-opaque. I believe you can not do this with only one representation - please correct me if I'm wrong. However, if I create two representations and selections like that, they won't line up properly - I've replicated the problem in the NGL viewer on the screenshot.

I there a way to align these representations properly?

Sorry @kiraacorsac, that is a shortcoming in NGL. We addressed it in our new project Mol* (molstar.org). There you can render individual residues as cartoon and multiple cartoon representations will always line up.

I'm having the same issue, just FYI. If there's a workaround or suggestion for where to look to start fixing it, I'd be willing to help.
