[Feature Request] Workflow to automatically create tasks based tags

I would love to use the new workflow feature to create tasks based on file tags. There exists a similar request to create tasks from mails. This would also be a good feature but I think it might be easier and in many cases sufficient to create tasks based on tagged files.

For example I'd like to scan an invoice an have it sent to my nextcloud instance via WebDAV. Now the automated tagging workflow could determine the type of document (based on the file name) and tag the file accordingly as invoice. After this tag has been assigned It should be possible to automatically create a task "Pay invoice" in tasks.

I'd love to hear from other users whether this would be a useful feature for them as well or if there are similar features already covered by a different app I do not yet know. Thank you!

I strongly second this suggestion; tags have a lot of untapped potential within the NextCloud environment - it is yet the key of a collaborative environment such as GitHub. Tasks (and calendar, by extension) and its tags should be deeply embedded within workflow automation.

I have a rough representation of a very very powerful end-game to dispatch work in a decentralized manner using NextCloud.

  • Once a task is created and associated with all required information to perform it (project, files or folders concerned, calendar deadlines or events, emails or contact persons, operative tags [urgent, to be decided, etc.]...), the task creator should be able to assign the task (project?), sending a request for commitment to another user (or a group of users, given a minimum number for the commitments required). The requested user(s) could then accept or refuse to commit to the task under the terms suggested or changed them (where the creator allows).
  • The request for commitment should definitely be notifiable on the user's mobile client; so you could commit directly from anyway.

If NextCloud manages to deal with (decentralised) workflow automation throughout all its relevant features (task, calendar, files and folders, talks, groups, etc,) in a rationalized and integrative manner, this could be a complete game changer for its market shares.
