Desktop client "closes" conversation when leaving another conversation

Steps to reproduce

1. Have 2 chats A and B
2. Open chat A and decide that you are no longer interested
3. Open chat B
4. Use the … menu of chat A to leave the conversation

Expected behaviour

Chat B should still be visible

Actual behaviour

Empty screen is shown
