Login: show password deleted the value of the username field

Open jakobroehrl opened this issue 5 years ago • 9 comments

If the user tips on the "show password" eye symbole, the username disappears. I think it would be better if the username wouldn't be deleted

Hm? Are you sure this is related to Talk? What android version and what phone?

The issue is I can't reproduce this and login is basically a web page.

All good, thank you very much! :)

Can you reproduce it, if you tip on "import an account from nextcloud app"?

jakobroehrl avatar Mar 12 '20 13:03 jakobroehrl

No idea since that isn't in master anymore. Let me check it out soon-ish.

If I tip on "import an account from nextcloud app" I get this bug on all phones. I tried it this days on about 10 phones from various vendors.

Can you reproduce it, if you tip on "import an account from nextcloud app"?

@jakobroehrl , @mahibi On v15.0.0-RCx it's works correctly. It imports the url from de nextcloud server and the username from the account chosen. The password, how I think is normal for me, it's not imported.

If the user tips on the "show password" eye symbole, the username disappears.

It's true that if you try to show the "password", username gets "cleared", and then you have to retype username and password, and the logon works correctly.

EDIT (because I was wrong): But if you conserve the username and type the correct password with hidden characters and try to logon, you get and error "saying username or password is incorrect" being username/password correct.

@nickvergessen , do you known if this problem its related to Nextcloud Talk android app, or it's server validation ?

migulen avatar Nov 14 '22 21:11 migulen

I have no clue what this is about and it's also not my area of expertise.

nickvergessen avatar Nov 15 '22 13:11 nickvergessen

i can't reproduce the bug with the "show password" or "username or password is incorrect" yet.

mahibi avatar Nov 15 '22 13:11 mahibi

i see the following behaviour which is most likely caused by the same bug:

  1. choose import account from files app (sidenote: import from files app doesn't work in debug mode!)
  2. username is prefilled
  3. type password --> username is cleared!

@mahibi

"EDIT (because I was wrong): But if you conserve the username and type the correct password with hidden characters and try to logon, you get and error "saying username or password is incorrect" being username/password correct." <- I was 2 times wrong:

I've seen that the same happens if you "show password" -> username is cleared, like if you touch put the correct password conserving the username and the press the "logon" button, after that -> username is cleared, but the change is so quick, that i didn't see before.

So doing whatever you do... "username" is always cleared the first time, when you arrive to this web "import section".
