Animate GIFs

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. When sending gifs or seeing them in the phone app, they are displayed as static images

Describe the solution you'd like Be able to see gif animation when receiving or after sending them.

Describe alternatives you've considered Add a play button or something that lets know the sender/receiver that its an animated gif and they need to press on the image to see the animation.

@rapterjet2004 if not having time to continue on it for now, can you make sure it's rebased on master and merge conflicts are resolved?

The thing is, that the gifs can be playeb by clicking on them, but I suggest - autoplay them. When someone sends a gif, autoplay it for like 3 times and then stop tham (and slap a play icon?) The play icon over videos is worked on in #5585, but I think this could be a diffrent thing than .mp4, .mov and whatever it can play. @mahibi wdyt?

makes sense. However we should have the same behavior on all platforms. On web it plays indefinitely. How is it currently on iOS? @Ivansss @SystemKeeper

We currently auto play them, there's no play button or the like.
