Text detection / OCR for photos

No idea how feasible this is, maybe it would just be an additional model, maybe it's way out of scope, but it would definitely be a killer feature: Detect any text in images and add it as comment to the photo in nextcloud?

That would be pretty cool. I'd guess it's likely been discussed before and will eventually be in the pipeline. Either way I'm 100% for the idea, the more a.i. features I can have access to the better.

This is exactly the feature I'm looking for! I would like to be able to have photos/videos of trucks coming and going in my lot identified by the numbers displayed on the backs of the trucks. I'd like this info searchable and timestamped, so I see what trucks came and left and what time. I'm trying to find something that can do that type of thing.

great idea and I would love this feature in nextcloud. My use case is that we collect photos of elements with their inventory numbers on them - If we could emplloy AI to read the inventory numbers (handwritten) and attach recognized text to it in searchable form - lifesaver!
