Group Folders: Every User has it..

hello

I started the preview generator with about 30 users sharing a GROUP folder, resulting in indexing the group folder for every user, hence taking a LOT of time, ..

In the end I cancelled it, it seemd pointless..

so is it even possible to use this reasonably with group folders? (which in my case contain photo folders with 10000+ imags)

Ah good point. Never used it with groupfodlers. I'll have a look. Altough I can't promise a timeframe.

Hi, have you made some progress regarding this issue? The preview generator is not really usable NextCloud instances with group folders containing lots of pictures.

Not really. However it will only loop over the images. It won't rerender the images as Nextcloud figures out they are already rendered anyway.

Just chiming in to say, yep, we have a lot of group folders with loooaddsss of images and the generation is just doing the same work over and over again. I was unable to get the previews to show actually, my oc_filecache tables were never filled, app-scan-data / files:scan --all / etc. never worked. Generation took nearly an hour each time... I'm gonna give up now after 2 hours of hacking on this. We're on the latest nextcloud docker stable version.

Having the same problem without group folders, just a normal folder from one user shared with other users. For pictures it is very quick after the first time so probably not regenerating, but for xlsx files it is slow every time
