Open petrkr opened this issue 1 year ago • 10 comments

Describe the bug In folder where are more files than (do not know how much) after scrolling down it blanks, slider will gets bigger (like there are not too many files) and if I continue scrolling down, it jumps to begin of the page.

Sometimes there instead of black canvas will jump probably rest of photos, but they are all over each other.

It was introdced in some 28 like two/three released back, do not remember exactly as I am not using often web galery.

In time of writing this I updated to latest 29 version

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to 'Photos --> Folders --> Select folder with lot of photos (l tested 1000)'
  2. Start Scrolling down
  3. See error

Expected behavior See whole galery

Well.. I split large folder to lot of smallers and there is one folder, which still jumping..

So I already find how to reproduce.

Main problem is when there are folders and photos in same folder. If there are no folders, even 300+ photos can be loaded fine

if there is even one subfolder, then it start jumping around 7th row, so maximum "no jumping" photos are 27 files and 1 subfolder.. or 26 files and 2 subfolders... (in case you have 4 pictures per row). If you have let's say 2 pictures per row, it is still after 7th row)

So reproduce:

  • Make screen width to have 4 pictures per row
  • create folder "Pictures"
  • upload 27 pictures
  • create subfolder "Others"
  • upload any amount of pictures onto Others (atleast one, but does not matter)
  • until now view sould be OK
  • upload one (or more) pictures to parent folder "Pictures"
  • refresh and scroll down after you will hit 8th row, everything is smashed

This does not happen if there are not subfolders.

@GieltjE can you please confirm this reproduction ?

I am affected as well, when a directory is large, the preview "jumps together and scrollbar disappears".

Does that folder contains subfolders?

Because I discovered at my side it happening only if there are photos and subfolders.

Good finding, it seems true, but all my bigger photos folders contains subfolders...

Hope this can be fixed soon.

Actually I stop using this galery anyway, it was very slow, even on mobile app.

I installed 'Immich' project and connected 'external' Read-only library pointed to Photos folder of Nextcloud.

It also have local AI model, so it can search within photos by using like 'airplane', 'blue car', they have mobile app, which is pretty fast compared to nextcloud photos. So basically something bad is good for something else. Because if photos here will not broke up, I'll probably never found Immich
