Safari Extension?

Open kenthinson opened this issue 7 years ago • 7 comments

Hi sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. But I see in the read me that it's tested with safari. Is there build available for download? if not some build instructions would be nice :) thanks!

Hi there, I don't have a mac, just tested it with an old version of Safari for Linux, so not sure if it works with the current one.

Docs: https://developer.apple.com/library/content/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/SafariExtensionsConversionGuide/Chapters/Chrome.html

But i won't pay $100 to host an extension in the store, sorry but that's way too much.

Maybe do some crowdfunding or, easier for this task, use BugBounty, so people can "sponsor" this issue here and if there is enough interest to get $100, you can publish it.

I've asked @jospoortvliet to enable bountysource for this repo.

So we got a Mac and started to look into this, but... The documentation for building safari extensions is out of date. Xcode doesn't offer an option to create an Safari extension. Does any Apple developer knows more about this? Update: Seems they moved it.

Hi there, are there any news about a safari extension or a download link ? :)

I looked in to it yes, and so far i didn't like what i saw. As far i can see, if i follow their docs, it means a rewrite / new extension. For now it's too much work. If someone would like to work with me on this, feel free to ping me.

I would be willing to attempt to build this (I have never developed a safari extention but I could work it out). Is there documentation of the API's I would be using to talk to the server backend. Edit: What I made wasn't great and I have since moved to Bitwarden
