mariaDB going haywire (bought by investor)

Unfortunately I learned today that the company behind mariaDB had been bought by an investment company. This could long term have bad effect on licencing and quality of the project. While it may be early, we should probably think about what to do, in case this turns bad. Should we switch to postgres? Is this even possible?
