nextcloud-filelink
nextcloud-filelink copied to clipboard
Password should be provided in the email sent
Bug report
Steps to reproduce
- set up nextcloud filelink with "password for uploaded files" set
- send an email with an filelink attachement
Expected behaviour
The password to access the file should be provided in the sent email. Otherwise recipients can't see the attachement.
Actual behaviour
The password is not given in the email.
Desktop configuration
Operating system: Debian Jessie
Thunderbird version: Icedove 45.6.0
We're thinking of generating a random one and printing it in the email if possible. I don't think the API allows us to do this, so we'll have to use some clever tricks.

Thanks for this great addon. I also would appreciate if automatic addition of the password to the mail content was implemented. Maybe you could think over customizing the text template by using placeholders. Everybody could süecify it on their own.
i fail to see how generating a random password and distributing it together with the link is more secure than just requiring no passord?
Hi, would like to revive this thread.
As for now, this tool works quite well for me, but I could imagine a more refined functionality:
-
More than one Nextcloud Filelink Provider ( private / professional instance); not topic here....
-
Nextcloud file link with one time password included (written into mail for comfort, which seems no security issue to me when mail is encrypted); the OCS api allows setting the password for the file, so why not a different for any file
-
autofill of that password at download page when clicking the filelink in the mail;
-
functionalities 2) and 3) could be made selectable either in mail settings or during attachment process
Thanks for this great tool!
