The unread badge doesn't show the real number of unread news

Open j-ed opened this issue 6 years ago • 4 comments

expected behavior The News app icon should should the correct number of unread messages in unread badge.

current behavior The News app icon always shows (1) as in the unread badge of the icon instead of the real number of unread news. At the same time the unread news notification message is showing the correct number of unread news, e.g. "4 unread messages available".

@j-ed I think this only indicates that the app has an open notification.

What brand do you use? Or what Android Flavor?

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S7 with Android 8. As I've written although the notification shows 4 unread news the indicated sticked to 1. As I open the app there were definitely at least 4 unread news available.

Let me mention, that WhatsApp showed the correct number of unread message at the same time. Therefore my assumption is, that it should be possible to display the information in unread batch in general.

I've investigated a little bit further and found the following article which covers Notification Badges. The paragraph "Set custom notification count" might be of interest, but I must admit that I'm not a developer 😉

Since this hasn't gotten reasonable interest within the past 5 years I'll be closing this.
