click message background causes viewport growth

Steps to reproduce

  1. open email
  2. click white space / message background

Expected behavior

no behaviour

Actual behavior

the email viewport grows, pushing the bottom-of-email interface buttons (Reply and auto-gen suggestions) down the page. The more you double-click, the more the viewport grows!

Also happens if the browser window size is changed.

NOTE: Seems to be a problem on Firefox (123.0.1) and seems not to appear as an issue on Chromium.
