I can confirm the issue. Even if the problem is fixed with a cast, the iCloud mail bodies were still not displayed:

Yes, somehow issues with icloud occur from time to time, yet I don't know why. https://github.com/nextcloud/mail/issues?q=is%3Aissue+icloud+is%3Aclosed
Right now we do not have any account we could test/verify this bug with.
@ChristophWurst Since iCloud is one of the most used mail providers, it would be great if the issue could be solved.

Believe it or not, but we've heard the same reasoning for pretty much every bug. There is always a person to whom a particular bug is the most important one to fix.
We'll look into it when time allows or if a customer runs into the issue. Until then, I would be very grateful for debugging help. I can give you pointers and everything on how to get started.

Nextcloud is so complex but it’s so wonderful ! I think it’s the better soft I ever seen so I can wait !

I have this issue as well, what’s confusing is it is able to show the number of emails in a particular folder, but shows all folders as empty when selected.
The number in the sidebar is a direct query to the STATUS of the IMAP mailbox. The contents displayed go through a caching layer. That explains the difference.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. If I knew how to code, I would for sure help out with the nextcloud project. You guys do great work.

I have the same problem, I use nextcloud (which I love) within a docker environment, latest nextcloud:apache image in a docker swarm stack.
It is just for personal use, so is do not mind if I have to break things in order to provide useful log/debug .. How can I help? Is there any log that you may need, or debug statement I can put in the nextcloud src code? I May I be your guinea pig, but I need some guidance as I am not that great coding in PHP.
Same problem. Any news in respect to this bug? Still seeing it in the latest version. It does login, and does list the correct folders, but no messages are downloaded.

Nope, we didn't have time to look into icloud specifically.
Same issue, not complaining, just commenting to track. @ChristophWurst thanks for all that youre doing for the Mail App. Im using Nextcloud container on Unraid via SpaceInvadersOnes setup instructions. Everything is working great, outside of this app.
SMTP sends work fine, IMAP connects and pulls the number of emails read/unread, but fails to pull back any of the email specifics.
This is a container that sits behind a reverse proxy (SWAG), I'll look into seeing if there is a configurations step that could be blocking? Again, not a dev, just enough to be stupid. :)

You've got all the logs you've asked for. I think there's simply no interest in solving this issue, maybe since no one is using the app. Regardless, this experience was enough for me to move off Nextcloud to other solutions. Thanks for your effort.

We do not have time to look into every bug report indeed. I tried my best helping you for free. Your last feedback indicated timeout issues, I suggested experimenting with increased timeouts and never got a reply.

Free? This is an open source project and like many, I use for fun and contribute where I can. As much as I love tweaking and solving problems myself, I've noticed that the NextCloud ecosystem really has this remarkably unapproachable not our problem attitude. That's fine but if you put something out there maybe don't be surprised people use it, and don't be surprised people ran into problems, and report back. Which helps you improve your app, which you might want to charge for from people that use it and need formal support. I doubt it if hobbyists like myself are in this category. I've seen this bug reported on one of the forums almost 3 years ago now.
@ChristophWurst Could you please tell me, where to put the timeout values? I've added them to config.php, but to me it looks like it did not change anything.

@crdxfire It doesn't work. I've tried over couple of versions. That option goes into the config.php file as an item in the array. I've moved off NextCloud since then and currently using Synchthing for files and CalDAV, CardDav directly to iCloud. NextCloud is becoming an "enterprise" app. For me it seems bloated, slow and most of the features redundant. I don't think they're really targeting casual users. Reminds me of the path Drupal took. One thing I didn't check is OwnCloud. Might be more user oriented?

I can confirm this bug.
Running nextcloud on docker, IMAP count is okay but no messages. If it helps iCloud IMAP seems to work with my K-9 Mail client on my phone.
Same issue here - was using linuxserver nextcloud container; recently migrated to nextcloud aio container - issues still persists.
This one has been open since July 2020. I'm trying to understand the prioritization around Apple products, specifically the support of their email services. Doing some light discovery, Apple has nearly 4k companies using iCloud, most often found in the United States. Apple iCloud is most often used by companies with >10000 employees and >1000M dollars in revenue. Its also the highest adopted email client, which infers an incredibly high degree of .icloud.com specific email address. So even if Nextcloud was going the enterprise route, Apple would still be on the radar.
With the recent addition of adding your personal domain and other email related features, its hard to not look at look at apple as one of the top 10 email service provider.
I know Apple services provide unique challenges, so hoping we can objectively look at the market to help prioritize discovery in this space.
