Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

As a Nextcloud Mail user I want to send a list of people a message without them seeing the other recipients. I currently have to write the same message multiple times (inefficient) or send a message to myself with the recipients in bcc (hack, might not pass spam filters)

Describe the solution you'd like

Allow me to broadcast a email to many people.

This should multiplex my email into one individual email per recipient.

Describe alternatives you've considered

N/a

Additional context

This could be a solution to our ongoing issues with the Mail app.

We are a school and our users (mainly teachers) frequently send emails to groups (contact groups, such as parents of a class or the teaching staff, with approx. 30 to 60 recipients).

And I always hear that “cloud mail” (the Mail app) is insecure because often not all recipients receive the email.

We have currently instructed them to address the emails to themselves and put the contact group in BCC. For data protection reasons, the recipients must not be listed in the “To” field. In addition, some email providers reject such emails outright. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to see who the email was sent to in the Sent folder. That's also a shame.

Conclusion: A way to send emails to contact groups securely in every aspect would be a blessing for us.

Thank you for your feedback

Could you elaborate on how emails not received make the app insecure?

Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to see who the email was sent to in the Sent folder. That's also a shame.

What do you mean? An email client uses a MTA to send the email. The client relies on the MTA to deliver the email. I don't see how this aspect changes with the proposed newsletter feature.

Sorry, I write the texts in German and then have them translated. This means that the intended meaning may not always be entirely clear. And please note: it may be due to the translation. I want to help find a solution, not just complain. ;-)

“Insecure” probably means “unsafe.” In this case, users are unsure whether the emails will arrive. So they avoid other supposedly secure ways of sending emails, which is not what we want.

If you try to send an email via Thunderbird or Outlook and there is an error from the SMTP server, it is displayed in a similar way to an undeliverable email. In the Mail app, the email remains in the outbox without any comment.
