iOS App “Media” tab only shows 1 photo after reorganizing files into subfolders
Environment • Server: Nextcloud (Docker on Raspberry Pi 3, with external USB HDD at /mnt/ncdata) • Nextcloud version: e.g. 31.0.9 • iOS App version: e.g. 7.1.7 • iOS version: e.g. iOS 26.0.1 • Database: MariaDB (Docker)
Steps to Reproduce 1. Upload ~12,000 photos/videos into a single folder (Photos/mobile) → At this point everything works in both web UI and iOS Media tab. 2. Reorganize into year/month subfolders (Photos/mobile/2023/01, 2023/02, …). 3. Run reindex commands: occ files:scan --all occ files:scan-app-data occ maintenance:mimetype:update-db occ maintenance:repair --include-expensive occ db:add-missing-indices
4. After reindex:
• Web Files tab ✅ All files visible
• Web Photos app ✅ All files visible
• iOS Files tab ✅ All files visible
• iOS Media tab ❌ Only 1 single (oldest) photo displayed
Expected Behavior • Media tab on iOS should display all photos/videos, same as web Photos app.
Actual Behavior • Media tab only shows one (the oldest) photo. • Files tab and web UI both show the correct number (~12,000). • Issue appeared only after reorganizing files into subfolders.
Additional Information • Clearing cache, logging out/in, uninstalling/reinstalling the iOS app does not help. • Appdata caches (appdata_xxxxx/photos, thumbnails) deleted and rebuilt → no change. • Background jobs (cron.php) running every 5 minutes. • Looks like a Photos API indexing/pagination bug triggered by large photo libraries with many subfolders.

media tab is completely broken in recent ios releases, switched back to version 7.0.7. the newer versions completely messed up my database, had to even delete fotos cache in sql library and do a full rescan. including tagging and recognizing faces etc. it took me several days, i would stay away from the later ios versions.

I wonder if it might be related to time zone handling
please post the Log of Nextcloud iOS, the media performs a search with a timeout of 180 seconds, probably Raspberry Pi 3 is insufficient to satisfy the request.
