If applicable, you can post the iOS app or server logs (removing any sensitive information).

Reasoning or why should it be changed/implemented?

Environment data

iOS version: e.g. iOS 18.4 22E240

DuckDuckGo version 7.163.0.6 (default browser) Safari no Version found.

I don’t even know which browser it takes

No pending updates available neither ios, browser nor nextcloud 31.0.1 now 31.0.2 same behaviour

Nextcloud iOS app version: see More > Settings

Server operating system: debian bullseye

Web server: Apache, nginx

Database:

PHP version: debian bullseye default 7.4 i guess (side note nextcloud tends to move to newer php versions than debian offers by default which is a very annoying mismatch) I wish for fewer updates, more stability and cannot understand why app developpers have the burden of editing their codes each time a new ā€žstableā€œ update is available. Poor devs, my regrets

Nextcloud version: 31.0.1 and 31.0.2

When i manually login with duckduckgo or safari (i never use it apart from testing), i don’t have such messages. Therefore i wonder what Browser this thing is using…

Hi @toledo1966, we are currently investigating this.

This looks like a duplicate of #2901.

Agreed, same symptoms

To be honest i feel that nextcloud is too much focused on brining new versions all the time on the cost of stability.

This is a claim we are confronted with often. Personally, I had the same impression before I started working for Nextcloud. As you wrote yourself, it is a feeling. The actual numbers tell a different story. I recommend watching this part of our Nextcloud Hub 10 introduction which focuses on this topic.

Have the same issue on Nextcloud 30.0.10 on the server with server side encryption turned on for several weeks now. Not able to use Nextcloud on the phone.

For the accounts on other Nextcloud 30.0.10 servers with no encryption turned on - I am not having any issues adding accounts to Nextcloud iOS app (v6.6.6.0).

*TOTP is used, backup keys were regenerated as suggested on on of the Support threads on Nextcloud Forum. That did not fix anything.

Nextcloud Matheria for iOS 7.1.3.10 Ā© 2025 Nextcloud Server 31.0.8

Still the same. But now even with more issues (new folder for new month doesn’t auto generate anymore)

I have now found a solution by accident: 1)login with your user with a browser you want to login from the app on your mobile device 2) in the browser navigate to the top right corner where your user icon is 3) click on it, click on settings 4) left hand side there is a very discreet settings area (easily overseen), click on it and click on security 5) at the very bottom you can locate devices and sessions, scroll down to the very end 6) add an app name, click on: Create new 7) you need to immediately save the key generated 8) open the app on your mobile and, again, very discreetly you’ll find some notion: Alternative log in using app password 9) click on that one 10) enter your very username which has your login usually (not the app name for which you generated the key) 11) enter the key and it works

You can add several accounts to your app. You can also do this with Passwords app or talk app and more.

It took me a year to find this option, if only the message was not confusing me with some bah bah about unsupported browser, versions, telling me that I would need to update something instead of telling me to use this kind of password less authentication, I would have found the solution more quickly.

P.S. And yes, regrettably, stability of Nextcloud has worsened even more at this time of writing. I really wish more stability and reliability and accept the cost of fewer new things.

Because of this, I donā€˜t use Nextcloud anymore.
