Switch to an actively maintained whiteboard solution
Hello, I was very happy about the announcement of a whiteboard in Nextcloud 21.
Unfortunately, it does not look like the integration is being enhanced at the moment. I wonder if that's because the base - Spacedeck - isn't showing much activity in its GitHub repository either. https://github.com/spacedeck/spacedeck-open/graphs/code-frequency
Does it make sense to move to a more stable base for such an integration?
BigBlueButton is switching to tldraw for the upcoming release. https://docs.bigbluebutton.org/2.6/new.html#fully-reimplemented-whiteboard-tldraw https://github.com/tldraw/tldraw
Jitsi has integrated Excalidraw, which even supports end-to-end encryption. https://jitsi.org/blog/introducing-whiteboards-in-jitsi-meet/ https://github.com/excalidraw/excalidraw
What are your thoughts on this at Nextcloud?
Have a look at the Draw.io integration: https://github.com/jgraph/drawio-nextcloud/
It has just add whiteboard support and real-time collaboration. (Since version 2.0)
I'd love to have more active curation of nextcloud namespaced integrations.... or to understand why this isnt a priority....
its a bit odd to have integrations (like this one) lingering without updates forever, and no clear indication of it's trajectory... I get that stuff changes, and there's only so much time...
AND ... if something's not going to be actively maintained, perhaps clearly assert someplace that an integration is either looking for a new maintainer, or going to be sunset... such that users / collaborators have a clear sense of what the current read of the tea leaves is telling us tomorrow will look like...
regardless, thanks for such an awesome platform for collaboration.
