Is this integration dead?

We're currently evaluating introducing this whiteboard app to our users, but the inactivity and problem reports of not functioning servers seem very worrying, also converting or exporting whiteboards doesn't seem to be possible.

What are the current plans for this plugin? Is it dead?

I don't think it's completely dead. It seems to be somehow out-of-focus. Last week I wrote to Julien, the developer of the app, and reported an issue I had spotted on my server. This was his answer:

Good timing. A few weeks ago, I started to work again on this app. Spoiler alert, the main goal is to make it work with a standalone external (if possible vanilla) Spacedeck server and give up the embedded one. This would be much better, making it possible to have the "real time" communication with the websocket and the possibility to host Spacedeck on a different system (useful if NC is on a system which can't run NodeJS).

makes definitely sense for me: Using spacedeck like collabora or onlyoffice. I hope the user authentication is no problem.

This was its exciting announcement in 2021: https://nextcloud.com/blog/nextcloud-hub-21-out-with-up-to-10x-better-performance-whiteboard-and-more-collaboration-features/

And now it's not a part of NC 24. I'm surprised it had such a short lifespan. Agreed, would love to see it come back to life.

Hi there,

we would love to have a whiteboard functionality. Do you have any news on what current status the project is? We would gladly help with localization.
