We had the idea to combine the calendar and the gallery/images into a diary. With this, maybe as a new app, one can browse through a specific calendar and after clicking a specific date one can see all related images to this date.

What do you think? Is this something worth trying to implement it? Then I will give it a try. Or do you see some problems?

I think there is already an issue talking about that, but the main issue is that we don't store image metadata yet. A GSoC project was started last year, but it needs to be refreshed to be of any use.
