Inconsistent indexes between users for the same, shared directory

I have had this issue for a while now. Maybe since the beginning. I have an SMB mount (files_external) as a provider. That mount is shared between multiple users. When indexing completes, some users can find a doc while others cannot. After running index while passing the user and provider variables, the issue persists. What can I do to fix this?

note: I'd like to avoid a full reset and re-index as it will take me weeks to complete this.

Additionally, is there a way to reset the index on a single user?
